I'm Dan, owner and founder of gocciadivino. I have had a passion for wine since I was first allowed a sip (I shan't say when that was). Despite a healthy respect and interest in fine wine, my real interest lies in the science of wine as an art, or is it the art of wine as a science? I completed my WSET Level 3 proudly with a distinction in 2022, and set about changing the world (baby steps) with gocciadivino - a drop of wine.
Taking people on a journey, whether they know about wine or not, is what gocciadivino is really about. It's about having a safe space, where people can ask as many stupid questions as they like, enjoy themselves, and do something a bit different to swirling and sniffing.
The experiences I create come from my own constant need to know 'why?'. Why does a NZ Sauvignon have characteristic notes of gooseberry? Can you really taste tobacco in a Merlot? Why oak? What innovations are there?
Regardless of the geekery, I firmly believe that a wine is only good if it can be enjoyed. Drop the gocciadivino team a message and see whether we can change your perception on what enjoying a wine is really about!
